I had a couple of days off work this week so decided to do some local birding, first stop Boldon flats, nice to see some water there now plenty of the usual wigeon, teal and mallard aswell as a single shelduck. A quick scan through the gulls produced a single Med gull. Off to south sheilds to see if the snow buntings were still there hadnt walked far when i came across a couple in the dunes then on my way back another five had joined them.
Went a bit further a field today to Hollywell pond a good number of Greylag and Pinkfeet in the field to the west of the pond the Greenland whitefront (year tick) with them aswell. Went to the hide at the east end first where i managed to spot the drake green winged teal (life tick) at the west end through the scope so went along to the other hide but it wasnt visible from there must of been hidden behind the reeds but i could see the female Ruddy duck(year tick) which must have been out of view behind the island from the other hide.
Back to work tommorow but a couple of weeks hols comming up so hopefully plenty more to see then.
Life list 244 (Green winged teal)
